2023 Cherry Blossom Financial Education Institute

The 8th Cherry Blossom Financial Education Institute was held on April 20 – 21, 2023. Researchers from around the globe presented their work in Washington, D.C.

AWARDS

GFLEC is proud to announce the winners of the Financial Literacy Research Award and the Rising Financial Literacy Scholar Award.

Two papers were selected this year for our Financial Literacy Research Award. Tabea Bucher-Koenen of the University of Mannheim has won for her paper, “Disparities in Financial Literacy, Pension Planning, and Saving Behavior,” and Christina Zhu of the University of Pennsylvania for her paper, “Household Investment in 529 College Savings Plans and Information Processing Frictions.

Additionally, Sebastian Gomez-Cardona of the University of British Columbia won the Rising Financial Literacy Scholar Award for the paper, “Fertility, Financial Literacy, and Household Portfolios.

We thank the National Endowment for Financial Education for sponsoring the awards.
