Organized by the Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center (GFLEC) and the OECD/INFE, this event addressed cutting-edge policy issues and research ideas to advance the global financial literacy agenda. The recently released PISA financial literacy results reveal important gaps in the financial competencies of students in both developed and developing countries, as well as profound inequalities. As financial skills are becoming essential to participate successfully in economic and social life and activities, the symposium provided a platform to discuss the relationship between inequality and financial literacy. The debate among top researchers and policymakers should pave the way for the identification of realistic solutions based on research and effective practices.
