Lecture on Financial Inclusion and Financial Education with Mario Marcel, Minister of Finance of Chile
On April 13, GFLEC hosted Chile’s Minister of Finance, Mario Marcel. The Minister emphasized how crucial good financial education is to a well-functioning economy. The event gave students the chance to learn about Chile’s financial landscape and ask questions about policies that help improve financial well-being.
Meeting with Constantinos Herodotou, Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus
On April 12, GFLEC Academic Director Annamaria Lusardi met with Governor Constantinos Herodotou, who was in Washington, DC, to attend the Spring Meetings of the IMF/World Bank. It was a great opportunity to discuss the work the Central Bank of Cyprus is doing to promote financial literacy. The initiatives being implemented as part of the #finlit national strategy signal the great commitment Cyprus has undertaken toward the common goal of increased financial literacy.
Meeting with Timothy Antoine, Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank
On April 14, Director Lusardi met with the Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, Timothy Antoine, who was in Washington, DC, for the Spring Meetings of the IMF/World Bank. The Governor’s visionary project to increase financial literacy and strengthen financial resilience in the eight island economies is noteworthy.
Meeting with Johan Almenberg, State Secretary to Minister for Financial Markets of Sweden
On April 17, Director Lusardi met with Johan Almenberg, State Secretary to Minister for Financial Markets Niklas Wykman, of Sweden. Mr. Almenberg was in Washington, DC, for the Spring Meetings of the IMF/World Bank. He is also a member of the G53 Financial Literacy and Personal Finance Research Network, co-chaired by Dr. Lusardi.
Meeting with David Fernandez, Director of the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics
On April 13, Director Lusardi met with David Fernandez, Director of the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics at the Singapore Management University (SMU), who arrived in Washington, DC, from Singapore. GFLEC and SMU will soon release a new Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) project in eight countries.
